I will print off my packing list tomorrow, (I keep one for summer, one for winter) Then will just prepare my painting gear. All the rest can wait until Christmas Day.

MrEvs keeps giving me a row for trying to pack cos he's unsuccessfully hiding the fact that he's bought me a couple of things that will need to go in. I've given up now and left everything in a mess to see how long it takes to get on his nerves

And I keep all the ski paperwork in one big envelope in another special drawer so all I have to do is put it in my hand luggage and our passports in my jacket pocket.
I do all the washing when we get back so I know all my ski socks etc. have safely got back into my special drawer.
Oh, and I had my first encounter ages ago - October I believe :D

I absolutely agree Mr W. Under normal circumstances MrEvs probably does more laydee chores than I do. Unfortunately when it comes to packing bags he waits until 10 minutes before we leave, then goes around the whole house picking up every item in sight and dumping it in the immaculately packed bags which hold a fine balance of just enough, but not too much stuff. Said bags are then screaming at the seams, and on arrival I unpack and find 4 x deodorant, 3 x toothpaste, 25 x pants and socks, 4 x pairs shoes etc etc etc etc. And that's just for a long weekend.
He's now firmly banned from even looking at the cases, and only has access to a list  I will be ramping up security the closer we get to departure, and am honing my rugby tackling skills ready

I made a list last year, for the 'what's in your bag for a week's skiing' thread:
http://www.j2ski.com/ski-chat-forum/posts/list/32/7105.page#57985
But it was only a list of what goes in the suitcase, not the paperwork etc. which goes in my hand luggage. And everyone seemed to think I'd rather gone over the top with my list - but it is what I actually put in my suitcase (except that the apartments we go to now have duvets instead of blankets so I don't have to bring one of those). I could have organised my list better as well. But I don't actually use a list, because I have it all in my head.
And my daughter uses the tube socks as well as the expensive fitted ones, and she reckons she can't tell the difference. If you can't find your missing ski socks you can always wash the ones you have got on holiday, only don't put them on the radiator to dry (like I did) because they shrink
