No one would argue a bobble hat would have stopped that rock.
No one said bobble hat wearers are better skiers.

YOU as a helmet wearer assume people who dont wear them think they are better skiers.
I am hardly a great skier, and if I fell over on a rock I might die. Thats my decision, and what this thread was all about, but we dont need ridiculous comments like that.

I can now see why this shook you up Bandit. That is one serious piece of rock and damage to the helmet! Not helped by the fact that it looks great conditions and little around to cause you an injury other than your own bad skiing - but then thats all it takes...

It is definitely another valid reason to make me think I should stop being lazy and get a helmet!

He's a really, really good skier. He just hit a rock, lost a ski and came down onto rocks head first. It was a fresh pow day.
These are his single tracks to the left of the lift...

Very lucky to be alive

Again, for all those who think helmets need to be cool...

I've a GIRO .. glad it's not in that state..at least your mate is able to claim on his insurance and fill the form in himself. I can recount at least 3 other personal tales where a helmet has prevented injury (not possible to tell how bad they would have been),,nothing quite on this scale though. yeah - I skiied for years without one... but telling my kids they had to wear theirs seemed a bit hypocritical..that's the only reason I decided to buy.. but it's like wearing a seatbelt..seems strange when you haven't got it on.
but... i don't think it sould be compulsory !!

He's a bit busy with insurance forms alright. No1 son broke his tibia in 2 places on their 1st day in resort. Heard today that the Heli evac to Sion was £2000+

Then they were stranded with the volcano ash, and to get home ended up hitching a ride with a friend driving past GVA heading in the direction of Calais.
