Hi,
Cheapest I've enjoyed was a week in ISOLA 2000 in January of this year. Easyjet Flight LPL to Nice £64, Transfers from Nice airport to resort and back £2, Ski Hire and lift pass approx £200 for both, Appt for 3 £180 for the week.
Skiing in ISOLA fab for a few days, a bit repetitive if there for the full week as I was but hey it was cheap, the snow was ace, the slopes fairly quite and accomodation basic but clean.
No real apres ski of any nature but the skiing was good. Cheers Andrew

Best for value if the snow is good (and it is!)is La Clusaz/Grand Bornand. La Clusaz is a bit dearer in the town but amazing prices on the slopes. Grand Bornand = stupid prices!!

Go for the Southern Alps resorts of Alpe d'Huez and 2 Alpes. They offer the best value for money and probably the best holiday offer. I did see a great offer on accommodation today for Isola 2000 in the South of France. You can fly to Nice and the resort is just 90 minutes away. I have skied there several times and even though it's not extensive, the snow is usually great. You can ski to one point and see the beaches and Med too. Prices are great and accommodation very respectable too.

Prices in Tignes two weeks ago were similar to those in Alpe D'Huez last January.
For the best prices on the mountain ask the reps, they are on a tight budget and will point you out the cheaper ones.
I don't think the difference in price for meals on the mountain are large enough to make a difference to which resort you choose. Pick a resort based on the skiing, get the best deal you possibly can and then budget for your daily costs in resort.
Why compromise on the quality of the skiing for the sake of a few euros extra for food in one of the big ski areas?
If you are on a really tight budget, make a packed lunch in the morning.
