I am thinking of booking a week on the run up to Christmas in Soldeu so am looking at the forecasts / webcams keenly. Any idea how much snow is above the resort on the main runs and how that is holding up ? I can live without runs to the valley floor as long as there is plenty on top of the mountain. Never been to Andorra before so keen to give it a try.

Plan B is Sauze D'Oulx if the snow looks better there.

There does seem to be a lot of cover by snow cannons in Grandvalira. Do they make a big difference ?

Appreciate any information you can provide over the coming days / weeks on snow prospects for Soldeu as keen to book and then start to count the day.

Hopefully there will be more first hand reports after it opens. Is that still on track for this weekend ?

It's snowing in Soldeu at the moment!

The webcams made for pleasant viewing today. Finger ever closer to the booking button ...

Anyone recommend a reliable weather forecast website for Grandvalira area ? I know its a long way away but Metcheck shows some truly warm weather over Christmas. I know its always colder on the mountain than the valley but it is putting me off taking the plunge at the moment. Plan B in Sauze D'oulx is looking more likely but I really fancy trying Andorra.

Mark - there's no such thing as a reliable forecast (snow or otherwise) for a month ahead. Anyone who claims otherwise is lying or deluded.

The first week in December is pretty much impossible to call at the moment, let alone Christmas week.

See our Outlook for December 2016, posted this morning, for some of the reasons why.

Once we're into December, things should become clearer.

Thanks. I probably didn't word the question right. I know that you can't predict snow/weather too far with any accuracy. It was more the temperatures variation I was interested in. Metcheck long range indicates double digit temperatures. Just wondered how unrealistic that model run was. I'll see if I can find a website with historical averages. I enjoyed reading your December outlook post.
