We had 3 local 5-6 year olds from a school class put on with us. Boys being boys they were wrestling and mucking about the the whole ride. Neither of us spoke very good German to tell them off as we were convinced we were going to loose one of them. When we got off we both of needed a drink, it scared us so much and these were complete strangers to us.
My thoughts are with the family.

I think raising your voice with a stern look will work in most situations despite language barriers.

A prod with a ski pole normally gets there attention

Or hit them on the head with the bar. They would have been wearing H anyway :)

Tried all the things suggested apart from hitting them with our poles. Even tried 'Achtung achtung'!! If you can imagine me and my mate either end of a 6 man lift and these 3 little sods in between us. At one point 2 of them were lying on the chair like it was a couch completely under the bar. Gives me goosebumps now thinking about it!

We always used to put a pole across the front of our kids bodies to wedge them in a bit and do the same if we have to take any with us even though they don't really like it it does give me peace of mind.
