They've done it up since I stayed there in 1978 - it was a drab old dump in those days!

I thought the Sauze hotel was pretty good, much better than I was expecting!

I'm sure they have been modernizing it. I reckon they had a heated boot rack in the boot room (coming on at night), and I didn't put my boots on the pegs just in case, as Profeet told me they damage the special insoles I have. There is a separate ski locker room.

Here are a few more photos, taken from Trip Advisor where they say these photos were taken by the hotel management.

My bedroom looked exactly like this one, except that mine had a nice wooden floor which looked like it was real wooden planks, not laminate. However, the manager, Francesco, did say he'd given me the best room! I think the others had slightly less space in their rooms.

If you wanted to be picky you could say it could have done with more power sockets, radiators you could turn off, and better sound proofing. But the beds were comfy, the patio doors were double ones so the room stayed warm, and you could go out on the balcony if you wanted to.

My bathroom looked just like this one. The shower is in the corner to the left, although you can't see it in the photo. And again, I think the others had smaller bathrooms.

This is the huge sitting room. You can only see half the room in this photo. There's also a pool table and another seating area. I think they could do with re-designing this area because it was very little used when we were there. Most people sat in the bar area.

Bald-eagleman organized a fancy dress night for Thursday evening, and several of us dressed up. The deal was, that we also had to eat wearing our costumes!
This is Brooksy :)

The stethoscope is mine, because I was dressed up as a doctor, in scrubs.

I have to post this about the prices in Val Thorens ... what a disgrace, Little W had chips for lunch €6 washed down with a small apple juice €4, at the end of the day Mrs W brought me a pint which I did not particularly want €8.
I really can't remember what I had for lunch as I am still traumatised by the obscene prices being charged ....
The snow was so much better in VT than what we had been skiing in Sauze, But I really think Val Thorens architecture is possible the worst blot on the landscape closly followed by Avoriaz & Flaine and if I never set foot on there again it will be too soon.

There was a mention on earlier posts about the quality of the The Hotel Sauze, Hetel and rooms were of a good standard the hotel food was very good and was a vast improvement on last years Hotel Gran baita in Folgarida ......
One mention although it did not effect my sleep was the hotel room walls were on the thin side ... Any Questions
