I have to agree with Salski, BASS in Les Gets were great. But if the kids are a bit older and you're looking for longer lessons then Switzerland was fab. We stayed in Flims Laax Falera, an hour from Zurich but not in any UK tour operator brochures so it's a DIY holiday I'm afraid. The tourist website is brilliant and gives all the links you could wish for.

The ski area is a hidden gem and the swiss ski school just brilliant. Perfect english spoken and (unlike our experience with ESF) try and group all the children together according to both ability and nationality. Lessons were from 10-12, an hour supervised lunch on the mountain then 1-3. My boys couldn't get enough of it!

Looking for a right place for skiing for 1st timers- 2 adults and a 7 year old child. Ski resort should be near Venice and snow sure as we will be there around 13-15 December 2012.
Please advise. Thank you

Kuhtai in Austria is hugely under rated, only an hour transfer, small family friendly resort with ski in/out, I think Inghams go there, relatively cheap and high up too.
