I agree with that, Wanderer, although, I will do anything to ski back. One slushy March, I had been eying a short cut all week, thinking this would make a great jump. So, with a day or so to go, heading home in slushy snow, I headed off the path, straight down, took the jump ~really well~except that when I was up in the air~ this was not a good time to discover there was no snow to land on. Landed on my skis, then my head, then a faceful of mud. Not to mention, everything else covered in mud.
Later, the Hausfrau would not let me into the hotel. I had to strip off in the street, she put my gear into the laundry, and I went into the bar in my Y fronts.
How much snow cover is enough?

 Had you shaved your legs and put fresh knickers on?

I wish I could meet the person who first decided to strap 2 planks to their feet and throw themselves down a mountain

I guess it's another reason not to go off piste without a guide
But I'm glad you were okay Dave - apart from the mud and the embarassment etc.

I wasn't the least bit embarresed, Ally. Didn't have to pay for my beer at the bar!
Soll never felt the same afterwards, though.
