max_sang wrote:Yeah, my previous boots (bought 10 years ago without fitting) started out 1,2,2,2 on the left and 2,3,2,2 on the right, then eventually bedded down to 2,2,3,3 left and 3,4,3,3 right.

I'll see what I can persuade S&R to do for me. Thanks everyone.
I think you have 2 choices - play it all innocent with them, or play hardball. I am not sure which would be the best option.
How much have you skied in them since you bought them?

I think what 'notch' you have them on is totally irrelevant, no 2 people have feet which are the sameand everyones boots different in terms of wear/use etc.

Here is their boot fit guarantee (from snowandrock online) -

Ski Boot Comfort Guarantee

When you buy boots from us we guarantee they will fit. If any problems develop we will change the boot or refit them at no charge with a refund of any difference if you change to a cheaper model. If after skiing in the boots you discover any fit problems we will continue to offer a free refitting service. Finally, if despite our refitting efforts your boots prove unsuitable and have been skied for less than 14 days we will issue you with a credit note less the comfort guarantee credit. A list of these charges are laid out on page 217 of our catalogue. To achieve the highest quality of fit a custom foot bed is essential.

The following conditions apply to the Ski Boot Comfort Guarantee: Cash refunds are not given.

* You must retain your original purchase receipt.
* The comfort guarantee is only valid for the season in which the boots are purchased. Boots purchased between September 1st 2009 and 15th April 2010 are valid for the 2009/10 winter season, finishing on the 15th April 2010. For boots purchased after April 15th 2010 the comfort guarantee is valid until the end of April 2011.
* This guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights.
* You must retain your original purchase receipt.
* Ski Boots purchased via snowandrock.com will not be covered by our exclusive Comfort Guarantee unless taken in to one of our stores (except Kings Road Chelsea + Harrods) for assessment by one of our trained boot fitters. This service is free of charge. Please take your receipt.

Well, the guarantee clearly states that they'll only fix things in the same season, so I'm screwed. That's why I posed the original question: "does anyone know if my liner & footbed will fit other Salomon boots?"

If they decide to play hardball then they will say 'start from scratch and we'll fit new boots for you' (at a cost of £300) or "go away". In which case my only options are to start a small claim action or suck it up. I've done 7.5 days in them, but that's not really relevant any more.

I will go in, say "look, I know the guarantee period is over, can you at least advise me what my options are", and see what happens. I suspect their lawyers train them to say "No way, Jose" in case they open themselves up to a claim that they didn't do the right thing first time around. Not to mention the financial incentive to get another sale. Let's see what happens...

I would never consider getting another pair from them, if I was you. Hope for store credit and buy something else you need.

I'm hopeful that this is something that can be fixed with a shell punch out. I'd like to think that S&R will see how much use the boots have had and do the right thing. It's in no-one's interest to have an unhappy customer with unusable expensive goods.

I have been having issues with my boots too... mainly burning sensation I put up with it for about three days skiing and I went to shop called SureFoot, they are voted the best boot fitters in the world according to many people I have spoken too.

They use state of the art scanning and injection Molding and proper foot beds that work... they are expensive but worth every penny as now I don't have any issues at all, and my foot feels great all day every day!

Could be worth a look, they have a office in London.

sounds like a volume issue rather than one foot longer than the other, a 1/2 size shouldn't cause an issue... there are a number of things which could be going on and could be done to solve the problem, for what it is worth i rarely see boots which are too small.... clips can be moved, shells stretched and ground etc etc,you need to have the whole thing assessed properly, the footbed may actually be the problem if it is not functionaing properly, or it could be down to the biomechanics of your foot and ankle. it is is impossible to say exactly what is going on without seeing the foot and the boot but i woudl not give up hope quite yet....if there is a biomechanical issue then a foam injected boot as suggested may not be the solution especially if you only ski 1-2 weeks a season. the key is findign out where the problems are coming from startign at the foot and working outwards 9 times out of 10 if the issues are only on one foot then they can be resolved

good luck
