Which version of Tom Tom are you using? I'm thinking of buying one, and wondering whether the more expensive version with the traffic alerts is worth it. Do you think it would have helped with your enormous traffic jam?

I have a Go920 it has been back to the repair shop twice aand it tends to freeze alot normally when you need it most, when I replace it it will not be with another tom tom not happy with their customer service.
I would possibly have a look at Garmin... 8)

Shop around as there are some deals to me had on the net 8)

Ian,
I hope you have air conditioning, or you might melt while you're asleep!

All I want to know, is which is the best sat nav to buy. I want to be able to go by the verbal instructions. I don't fancy trying to look at a tiny little screen while I'm driving. They seem to cost around £100-200.

if you place the sat nav where it is easy on the eye you should have no problems, ask yourself are you or your family gonna use it abroad ? Go and talk to halfords find one that suits you then search the net for the best deal by the way no one else I have spoken to have had problems with tom tom.
I brought an all singing and dancing model internal hard-drive, hards free for you phone etc etc and really what I have learnt is that you just need a sat nav 8)

Mine does a good job of getting me from A to B. It's a Blaupunkt. (sp)

It got me to Switzerland and back, I set in each days destination in advance as Favourites and it worked a treat. It was slow at figuring out I was in Dunkerque on the way out, and didn't get sorted for a good 10 minutes  It was raining hard, I was driving in a queue of foreign trucks, and trying to read road signs
