but I think my ideal would be a really lovely restaurant with a bottle of champagne and some flowers on the table waiting. :D

in fact, my ideal would be both

hahaha!!!

Yes, without the restaurant and flowers. )

Caron,

How can you be female and not be a "shopping type person?"

Ian, you sound like a lovely husband )

(My husband was going to organise something 'special' for my 40th birthday. Three weeks before the event, all he had done was look at cross channel ferries from Hull to Zeebrugge :( Needless to say, I took matters into my own hands)!

I really like Rose and her horse drawn sled option, bottle of fizz through the snow covered woods,I think I'm going to arrange that one. Thanks for all your ideas though.
And yes I'm a wonder husband, at least I think so but you'll have to ask Mrs W for confirmation of that one  .

... and neither is bandit or so she says. Shopping for skis doesn't count -- doesn't everyone shop for skis - the necessities of life ... that's only normal human behaviour

This means that they are both "keepers" !!!! all oxymorons aside

So Ian --- go with the sled and have the sled guy add a violinist or some source of soft music and lots of warm blankets. Mrs. W will tell everyone about her husband - "the keeper" - the thoughtful one :!: If not that, she will think you have flipped or have done something for which you need great forgiveness..... You see - we are male and therefore are not thought to be capable of this type of thinking or kindness for kindness sake.

Ian, trust me your wife will love the sleigh ride and fizz, so romantic. Mind you are last sleigh ride had us in fits of giggles all through the forest. Trust me to pick the only horse with severe flatulence.......it dont half echo through a quiet forest.
