We've purchased snow chains in the past from a large high street retailer (Halfords) & left them in their packaging. As we didn't need to use them we took them back on our return & got a refund! :?

Have driven to Les Gets a few times, which isn't far from Samoens & it was very straightforward. Have recently been to Samoens but we got a minibus from Geneva & the roads all the way were totally clear. Equally, we've done Geneva to Chatel before in a minibus in heavy falling snow. Our driver didn't use chains but people were using them around the village the following day. Every day can be different I guess.

As to whether or not you'll need snow chains.... if I could answer that, I'd have a much better paid job than I currently do & would be living in the Alps rather than visiting for 2 weeks a year!!

(www.roofbox.co.uk have quite a lot of info. about chains & socks on their website). Enjoy Samoens.
The plan is.... there's no plan!

Car rental in Geneva if picking up from the french side book snow chains (snow pack), the rental cars will not have winter tyres, nor the pass to drive on swiss motorways. If picking up from the Swiss side the car will have winter tyres.

I was in Chatel last year which is low, and the police were turning back anyone without snow chains just before La Linga.

Better to rent a snow pack that lose a day or more skiing. I had to use mine beofre Christmas to ge tthe last 50 yards to the chalet!

Lol why risk it. Rather get the chains and have a good trip then have to spend your hard earned vacation digging yourself out of a snow drift/other cars
Uh oh, I think I broke'd the lift
