We were half board last year, but managed to eat out a couple of times cos its so good.
Depends where you eat for your half board - we were in the Strass, and it was very samey and not a great choice, and the service wasnt the best.
The time after, we stayed out in Schwendau, so we came into Mayrhofen all but one night, as it was too quiet over there. Food wasnt too great in the hotel then either, so unless you are stopping in the Kramerwirt, I imagine you will want to eat out a couple of times at least.

The only place to eat in Mayrhofen is the Metzgerei (Butchery) on the corner opposite the Penken Cable Car. Well to be honest it's not the only place to eat, but a steak sandwich at 5pm before you head for the apres-ski is just the ticket :)

hi there...

i'm off to Mayrhofen for the second time in about 4 weeks. Me and my boyf went a year ago and it was the first time i'd been skiing. I'm officially hooked and part of that was down to the place. As well as being a great place to learn to ski it was absolutely beautiful!!!

I'm so excited to be going back again. We toyed with the idea of going somewhere in France but i don't think anywhere could compare to the Austrian Alps and i didn't want to be disappointed.. if it ain't broke ya know.... :D

Just back this morning from Mayrhofen, and we had 6 totally massively full days skiing, despite the changeable conditions. You cannot go wrong in that place.

its arrived...finally...we fly out tomorrow morning which is also my 25th birthday so am very excited indeed. we did have a days boarding lesson in milton keynes last week and i can not praise it enough. i absolutly loved every minuite even the odd fall! the instructors were good and i just had a fab time...it was worth the money (it was quite costly) as now i have a grasp of the basics and a bit of confidence - and i even shocked the boyfriend and was better than he had expected! xxx
