I don't think wearing a woolly hat makes you a danger to others on the slopes & think only a twit would make such a remark. Birdy, best not put your helmet on while in your room or you wont get past the mirror, thus losing a days skiing -)

I fail to see how listening to music during skiing should be dangerous! My eyes still work so I can see where I am going therefore if I was going to ski into the back of somebody I don't think the ability to hear would stop me, if somebody is coming from behind me it is their responsibility to manage their route around me not the other way round, also are you saying that deaf people shouldn't ski? Nice!!!
In my experience the greatest danger on the slopes are those people who attempt to ski in areas or on slopes above their ability and end up skiing erratically in front of those coming after.

Blimey, this is going to open another interesting debate.
I personally think its up to the individual if they want to listen to music or not. Most modern ski jackets and helmets have special fitments for iPods etc
As for a safety issue, I can see how there can be one as hearing people coming behind you is important, and being able to concentrate on what you're doing on a crowded piste is also Important. Like I said, there's a time and a place, and off piste with no one around cold well be a time and place.
I don't think we need another helmet debate, so lets try and steer away from that. But calling people names for not wearing one is neither constructive or particularly adult, and as I have been told before, this is a family friendly forum so please e careful with your choice of words.

If you want to cal me names because I wear bobble hats, please feel to pm me as to why I am a **** because of this.

As you were.

Edelweiss is always my ski tune - gets a good rhythm going in waltz time esp in Austria!! Personally I don't ski with earphones in, I prefer to listen to the birds whilst travelling up on the chair and listening to people's happy chatter and laughter! I feel it is like people going along talking in their mobile phones and not being aware of what is going on around them. All together now... Edelweiss... Edelweiss...
Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!

If you fail to see the point of removing one of your senses and putting ultimate trust in persons skiing behind you I'm absolutely flabbergasted.
