I almost did in VT. HOwever vis was down to <10m

Then you were skiing too fast 8)

Not at all. I was being so aware avoiding a class that did not see iti ski like I drive. Only go as fast as you can stop. Imagine a brick walk as far as you can see, could you stop at that point?

If vis in down to 10m, could you stop dead in that distance??

Apparently he was skiing extremely fast, guess he must have lost it.

Terrible accident.

I know it sounds a tad crass but I do struggle to empathise, I re read the article and it did not give too many details about the accident, unless they are skiing stupidly out of control I really struggle to understand how someone can hit a snow cannon.
It really is about time that people are forced to have lessons and not allowed on the mountain with out Instructor until they have reached a certain standard.

You should be in control at all times. The skiers mind should be thinking ahead similar to the system of car control. Looking and thinking as far ahead as possible. Looking for hazzards and potential dangers. Its all about reducing risks. I was on a busy ski route in January this year when a guy nearly took a women out whilst riding in excess of 90kms. The women had stopped at the side of the route to negotiate her line down when this guy just burst from nowhere and just missed her by inches. She actually screamed in shock it was that close. It would have been carnage no doubt about it

One of my work colleagues was in France the other week when she was taken out, hit from behind at speed. She spent five nights in hospital having her leg restructured with pins and plates as she fractured her Tibia and Fibula

When will these folks learn!
I just love the gravitational pull

It does.

Actually, don't.

His name was Tom Lynch and his family haven't even laid him to rest yet.

He was one of us, a skier, and - it appears - he may have made a mistake and paid the ultimate price.

Little else needs be said, but if you think this couldn't possibly happen to you, then you're a clue short.
