To the subject of lessons - you'll get it (especially on tough runs or in difficult conditions) if you have a private lesson or two with a reputable, professional teacher.

You may be right and i am always open to help. When the day comes where i feel i am not progressing i will happily pay out to move up a level. Right now i am consolidating all my new experiences and when i can go no further or feel unduly frightened i will get professional help.

Missed this thread, back to your first post... Agree with you snapzzz! I am taking up mtb over the coming months to take up the adrenaline rush, need somewhere to get some lessons though.

Good on you Snapzzzzz.
I had a week of lessons, never had one since. However it took me a lot longer than your short number of trips to "get it" but I think I have reached a stage where nothing phases me, and I will ski anything.
Most of that came as a result of a lot of help, patience and advice from Skidaddle (my mate who I have skied with more than anyone except my good lady wife).
But I can only say that I have got to a good level as a result of going skiing more often and keeping trying to work on the things I know are my weaknesses.
I have just about cracked skiing backwards now, and spent a bit of time messing about to do it.
Nothing beats experience and practice.

Remember that narrow bit of the Sarenne we spoke about? I skied tons like that on this trip, i thought i'd better get on with it as its a mind thing. And it was. Admittedly there was such a huge drop to the side but it taught me a lot about how my mind works and really showed i have the control i didn't believe i did. Im happy about that.

Skiing backwards is something i have flirted with a few times and i always seemed to fall when flipping back around to forwards movement......until i read something.... Stand tall on the spin an keep your eyes where you want to go. It really helps. I suppose its just the same as skiing forwards, i am always shouting at my mrs and little one to keep their heads up and focus on where they want to ski to.

I am on about the serious stuff. Not peddling to the village shop like they do in snapzzz town :)

Just shaved off the ski beard :-(

Anyone else give up shaving for the trip duration?
