Completely flush-out your screenwash and fill with 100% concentrate before you start off. Run the full concentrate through the pipework and nozzles at a convenient time ahead of the journey. Obviously, carry some concentrate as well.

I'd leave some passengers out if space is tight.
You could have a competition based on behaviour and size of xmas pressie to help choose!

I would swap a passenger for a fire extinguisher any day...

Isnt a fire ext a bit of a step too far? My engine is on fire I will need running shoes not a fire ext. Unless it is BCF (that they dont make anymore) the rest will ruin your engine (C02 wont be as bad but dont hold the end) Just throw snow at it!

 It's only a small extinguisher! It might seem like a long list, but everything packs into a smallish box. Forgot to add the red triangle, but that lives in the car all the time. "Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it". What would you leave out - apart from the extinguisher?
The plan is.... there's no plan!

I would leave nothing out, very comprehensive list! However, there is one thing missing that should be there...........

Boiled Sweets, preferably all blackcurrant as there will be no arguing!

I'm not sure, but if you wear spex for driving, I think you need to have a spare pair in the car or you can be fined?

Well £130 didn't go far at Halfords.

I've left a few things off Salskis list (toolset, oil, shovel and a few others) Just need some stories for the iPhone and we're done. :)

Cheers!

In Italy, yes, though presciption sunglasses are permitted.
A second pair is recommended in France, but not obligatory, as are a spare set of contacts if you wear them.
You are however obliged to wear glasses/contacts if you need them.
If you are driving in France don't forget that you are requied to carry your driving licence, car registration and insurance documents with you, and to be able to produce them on demand when in your car at all times.
