I bought a helmet for this season to try and help my confidence. In Obergurgl it turned out that I didn't even know it was on my head so it didn't have the desired effect  .
However, at Hemel today I took a pretty hefty fall, so much so that the instructor (who was going up the lift at the time) screamed across at me to see if I was ok. I knocked the back of my head. Had I not had my helmet on then my boarding days could've been over before they started (something I recall Bandit experiencing in pre-helmet days?). As it was I jumped up and carried on with no harm done.
I love my helmet :D

Betty,
I'm glad you're okay. I really like my new helmet as well. It's sitting here rather sad and forlorn, on our table, waiting until we go ski-ing again
And I'm drinking tea out of my Courchevel souvenir cup on skis :D
