Hi,
The other half wants to buy a bike helmet. We notice that many bike helmets look like ski helmets. Are they the same and can they be used interchangeably?
Thanks

only ever managed 85ish and can honestly say that i felt more comfortable with a helmet than not but i am really pleased that you have seen the light.
i have cycle helmets and could not imagine using them in he snow..to many big holes in them..
used to ski in a bobble or nothing if the sun was out but they are now saved for apre unless i am tucked up in bed..am i old :(
Don't attempt it, it'd be like putting petrol in your diesel engine... Just spend the extra £££ for another helmet.

personally as one who skis and has just taken up cycling I think that ski helmets would be much to hot for cycling..cycle helmets let much more air through and ski ones are designed to keep you warm with much less ventilation...

Helmets are designed in different ways, and meet different British Standards and European Standards. Do not mix them.
When cycling, I always wear a cycle helmet.
I also have skied for over 40 years with no greater protection than a woolly hat, and regularly ski at 100km/hour.
However, last season, I wore a helmet (for only the fourth day of wearing in two years of ownership), on a white out day. Unquestionably, that decision saved my life.
I now have a different view on ski helmets.

Totally agree with Dave. Ski helmets have been designed, produced and safety tested as ski helmets and nothing else. The same goes for bike helmets. Always use the correct equipment for your activities and you are giving yourself the best chance at staying safe.

Hi Paul,
As others have said on here already, ski helmets and bike helmets are designed to handle specific impacts and environments, and we would always recommend using head protection that is appropriate to your activity. One exception are some helmets manufactured by Bern. Their range often has a removable thermal liner to adjust for summer/winter conditions and are full certified bicycle, ski and skate helmets. Hope this helps!
