Ok so I've come across some skis that are a good price, and reviews suggest they're a good ski and would suit my requirements. Thing is, my current skis also suit my requirements and don't really NEED replacing. I could probably flog them on ebay for what I could buy the new ones for so financially not an issue.
Thing is, should I? Do I really need to? Is it sensible to bin 4 year old skis and get more up to date ones?
Current skis: Scott Neo 2008
Potential new skis: Armada El Rey 2011
Hmmmmm :hunf:
Change of skis?

Agreed, go and get the badboys! Winter's coming :D
I think that's the bit you need to decide... 8)
If you're always going to be happy skiing the way you've always skied... then why change?
But as you're not even as old as I am yet  , you probably want to move your skiing on a bit each year.
As Beep and VSB have pointed out, there's a whole world of new skis out there and probably something to push you further.
The only caveat I'd add is to try before you buy, and have a long, hard think about where you want to go (literally, where on the mountain) with your skiing...
...and then buy 3 new pairs. 8) HTH.
Isn't that replacing one out of date ski with another out of date ski?
If you're questioning the usefulness of skis that are only 4 years old, (assuming they've only done about 8 weeks?), then you haven' t really got full value out of them.
I'd do another season on them, then buy something bang up to date.

Buy the El ray's ...hold on to the Neo's to see if you get on with the El Ray's

The Neo has a traditional construction (wood core, sidewalls and two layers of titanal) whereas the El Rey is a wood cored cap ski, a much cheaper construction. They are both fully cambered so neither of them are what you might call up to date. Ekosport in France has the 2012 El Rey on offer at 195 Euro.

I will second what SwingBeep said, if you are to get new skis get something more up to date. This skis offer you no advantage whatsoever apart from being new. What happened to Bushwackers you were looking into? That was a ski worth getting and the deal was very good too.
