There is a red run in Serre Chevalier called Echaillon (I think the lovely restaurant on that run is also called that) but we can't remember what we were told it meant.
Anyone know please?

Thanks Allie - I double checked the spelling and it does seem to be right so I don't think it is the onion!

The only word I could find in my Petit Robert French dictionary was echallion, which is a type of onion. I also looked online, to no avail. Sorry :cry:

Literal translation is "route to expensive restaurant where you will be fleeced of all your hard earned cash, next time why not pack a snickers and a small can of coke"

I agree with you Tony - however, I think I may have found the real answer. Echaillon seems to be a fine rock of the Isere region and comes in pink, white or yellow!
