Hi all, as ive never been skiing i was wondering if there was any recommended insurers to go with. Thanks for help. tom

Hi TJ90, tough one this. Ideally you need to get responses from people who have either had to claim, or know somebody who has had to claim.

For example, I have used OUL Direct for the last 5 years, and found them to be very good when renewing, but fortunately I have never had to claim, so I really cannot comment as to how good they may actually turn out to be. All I can say, is that they were rated very highly by Which magazine at the time, and that was what swayed it for me.

Another vote for Direct-Travel, and I've had a medical claim with them.

I'll vote for Direct Travel too - I've had a piste closure claim with them :(

Its worth checking who Underwrites the policy. I had to use medical cover a few years ago for my son and Axa were fantastic, faultless.

You are quite correct, and there are really only a couple of Underwriters (in the UK) who handle skiing risks. Each Insurers Policy may still differ though, even though lots of co's are with one Underwriter. The Small Print is crucial!
