Hi folks
I am new on the forum however have been on a skiing holiday once. I have just purchased my own ski boots and skis and was wondering in the hotel do they normally have lockers? Do you need to put identification on your equipment?
I look forward to any suggestions
Thanks in advance

Ok, boots live with you. In your room. Ignore the signs that say "No boots in your bedroom" and take them to bed with you. Put them close to the radiator in your room too to keep them warm and dry the linings out.
If the owners kick up a fuss, you may have to resort to leaving them in a boot room, where there SHOULD be a heated rack. I think its unlikely that anyone will have exactly the same style, colour and size boots as you, but just to be safe, maybe put something on them to identify them. I've stuffed socks inside mine before so I know they're mine.
Do not under any circumstances leave them outside or in a cold locker room or you'll never get them on in the morning.
There has to be an element of trust with storing your stuff sometimes.
As for skis, you should be given a lockable storage space if its a reasonable sized hotel. If its small, you'll get to know everyone in their anyway, and who has what skis. You'd be tragically unlucky if someone took your skis from your accommodation, but if in doubt, leave them somewhere memorable or hidden, and TAKE A PHOTO of where you leave them and what skis they are in case you do lose them (*for insurance).
Your bigger worry these days seems to be ski theft from on the slopes (cafes etc) or in the town if you leave them outside a bar. I've not witnessed it, but I know others who have. Seems to be popular in France. If they do get stolen, visit Borovets next season as I heard a rumour thats where they're likely to end up )
Seriously, try to leave them somewhere noticeable and memorable, and keep an eye on them. Sensible people tend to take their skis back before starting apres, unless the pub is on the slopes of course!
Main thing, enjoy yourself and don't worry about your gear, and enjoy your gear as well.
What skis and boots have you got anyway?
A combination lock is fine as long as it is attached to the skis and something secure e.g. the ski rack, otherwise your skis could still disappear

Most hotels have a boot room with boot warmers, never had any problems with theft on the piste or from boot rooms ..... my boots stay in the boot room where they are supposed to be and are loverly and warm for the next morning.
I tend not to touch the liners, leave them in the boots and for that reasons I never have any problems with having to keep adjusting my boots during a weeks skiing, as Tony says don't worry about theft just take sensible precautions....... Common sense prevails or should do. Bon ski 8)

It's not abad idea to split our skis with a mate, while you have lunch etc, a thief is less likely to nick a mixed pair of skis

I have a small combination lock device that takes seconds to put on and seconds to take off. Piece of mind when stopping at restuarants etc. Many hotels and boot depositories have heated racks these days.

A friend had her boots taken by mistake on changeover day. An identical pair were left behind, so she took those. They were half a size bigger, so OK to use. The other boots........
