I would like to ski this month of February in Austria, I have never been there. I would fly from Malaga to Memmingen and from there a transfer to somewhere. can anyone help me with my decission? someone who knows different ski resorts in Austria.I am looking for a charming little village with ski lifts close to it, I don´t want to rent any car so it must be very accesible with 2 children. If we can´t ski there must be something nearby to do with them. I also look for good prices and nice accomodation. Is there any austrian skier there to help me? I can help you if you need information about Sierra Nevada in Granada ( I have been skiing there for 38 years!!!)

Hi Natalia, welcome to J2ski. Here is a stating point for you, and it gives the resorts within one hour of Memmingham. You might do a map check first, narrow down to a few resorts, then do a transport check.

Good advice from Dave Mac. If you do pick out one or two resorts that you like, you can post again and ask for views on the individual resorts here. J2skiers have been to most places and are generally extremely helpful

ok, thanks for your quick responses. I have been looking down and ¿what about Oberstaufen in Germany? it is easy to reach , I don´t mind if it´s not too too big, I don´t want my kids lost and now I have more fun skiing with them instead of making "skifoolish" things!!

If you have your own transport, you might find Bregenzerwald exactly what you are looking for - lots of cute villages all linked on a pass, but you need your own wheels to get around. I havent been but it gets rave reviews and is worth a visit.
Alternatively, I would suggest you look seriously at Lech. Not cheap, but great skiing and lovely village with ski in ski out access.

I had a look to the region bregenzerwald and it sounds very nice! As I undestood well the 2 major towns are Au and Schoppernau? Any other suggestion?

Hi. Alpbach is a wonderful resort and full of fun. Lots for kids to do in the centre of the village (tabogan slope on the nursery slope in evenings). lots of child friendly bars and lots of families, where you'll meet others for yourself being single. ALSO - it's about half the price of any other resort we know. You can't beat it. You will LOVE IT
