20 year old Salomon boots- are they OK?

fashion wise, you might have got away with them, if they were black, but definitely not pink 8) Do you have a fluoro one piece suit to wear as well? you could pretend that you though it was retro week at the resort. You almost certainly will get sniggering looks wearing pink boots, so unless you have no vanity at all, you may want to ditch them.
Modern boots are better designed for use with modern skis.

I bought my boots in my early 20's and have done about 10 weeks in them over the years. But I haven't been skiing for 10 years and am going to Courchevel over Christmas. I went to dig out my boots and am now worried that they are too old? They are SO comfy and I love them but are they still safe to wear? The fastenings are a bit dodgy (very stiff) but that's the only thing that seems to have aged. When I take them to get my ski's fitted am I going to be laughed at?! Apart from anything they are a very embarrassing white and pink colour! Maybe time to get some new ones but worried about cost and fit as my feet are weird. Any advice welcome!

Firstly, welcome to our little forum. Secondly, I don't actually know the answer to your question, but I'd say perhaps invest (or hire) boots for your next trip, I think you will find quite a change in all the equipment since you last skiied!

You could go to Tigne gay ski week, they would look great there (mid Feb - best avoided if your straight) if you like hanging with the village people keep those pretty pink boots and enjoy.

Ski Boot plastic does degrade with age, and boots can shatter and split. I have seen a pair of Raichle's split across the soles, whilst in use. Everyone has weird feet :D Ski boots have become more comfy while you were away )

Actually they are mainly white so not THAT bad! Although still embarrassing. You've shamed me into looking for a new pair!

My vote is - change them if they're not safe any more, but not because they're pink and white!! Nuffin wrong with pink and white
I wish I could meet the person who first decided to strap 2 planks to their feet and throw themselves down a mountain
