Meribel is quite spread out as the majority of the accommodation is made up of chalets. Not really a problem as the ski bus will stop within a couple of hundred yards and quickly whisk you off to the lifts. Up side is Meribel is probably the most picturesque of all the big French resorts.
Location couldn't be much better right in the centre of the 3 Valleys, access to Courchevel one side and Val Thorens/Les Menuires the other. Though the Meribel valley itself has some fantastic skiing too, my favourite being Mont Vallon.
Enjoy!

Stay in Meribel Centre, not Mottaret, or Meribel Village. Send an e-mail to the tourist office and ask them to send you this winter's brochure.
There is a small enclave of chalets just across the piste from the Pub steps (Crystal used to have a couple, Ski Out of the Blue own a couple). Ski in ski out (pretty much) and 100m to the centre of town!
Alternatively ask potential TOs to tell you exactly where their accomodation is.
Enjoy, it's a fantastic place with probably the best lift system in the world.

La Tania would be good. Group of chalets, lining the hill road, with a strip of woodland on one side. 30 yard walk through the wood, and put your skis on. Ski back to the same place at night.

The Three Valleys, France is an excellent and massive ski area. There are various resorts to choose from. There is Courchevel which tends to be a bit more upmarket and expensive, although can stay lower down in Le Praz or Bozel, which are all linked with ski bus and lifts but proper French towns. Or there is Meribel which is more for a younger crowd and more night life. Runs down get very busy at times and snow not always the best. Mottaret higher up, quieter and smaller. Then there is Val Thorens, the highest resort but very English, night clubs, tour operators etc.....
