Tempted by Ischgl but not sure about the runs back to resort which are red and seem to get unfavourable reports.
We would be going second week of January so snow conditions should be good?
My concern would be for one of our party for whom it would be fourth week on skis. He would certainly be prepared to try the reds but I don't want to spoil his enjoyment of the holiday if we can't all ski back down together.
Any thoughts please )

Haven't been there yet but did lots of research. Apparently the runs back home can get busy and bumpy in the afternoon when everyone is heading back. It is not like they are that difficult.
Ischgl is very high and they normally have good snow even in December.
I would say second week in January is relatively quiet so maybe the runs won't be this bad.

Personally I have no problems with downloading in the gondola after the hard day on slopes. It is usually wise as you are tired and the run is busy.
No point to spoil the day at the very last minute.

Ischgl has very, very good reviews so is definitely worth trying.

Mmmm 18% Blue, 61% Red and 21% Black ...... It says in the 'Where to ski guide" that the resort is not ideal for beginners or timid intermediates.
It just depends on how good or bad the fellow is, four weeks of lessons should be OK on reds.

Thanks for input - I think we will try Ischgl if the right deal comes up!

The big issue on the runs home is the crowds, not the difficulty as such. Gets packed with various levels of skiers so it becomes a special "challenge". I always ski home, but in Ischgl the half-way Gondola will make sense to your friend. Also doesn't take much before those runs get dug out icy patches...just from the volume of skiers.

Many thanks - at least we know what to expect.
