Hey guys haven't been on the forums in a while, but seeing as summer comes to a close and winter gets closer its time to think about the 2010/2011 season (Not that i haven't been since 2009/2010 season finished !! )
Anyways as i know some of you guys are quite familiar with France and me not having been there in over 6years of skiing ! I thought id ask for your opinions on where to go.
I am looking for:
- Advance/intermediate runs
- Plenty of off-piste
- A lively town with plenty of bar's etc :D
- Plenty of varied hotels - so we can search around for prices ect
- Edit: And cheap in general ! haha
Am i asking for to much or is there really a place out there !?
Thanks.
Where to go ?

Well I knew that france wasn't cheap from what my friends have told me, but if you don't ask you don't get ! :D
But yeah I am going for the skiing definitely, so I will look into tignes and val'd, iv hear quite a lot about val'd
so that was sort of confirmation if you like.
The nightlife isn't as important but it would be nice for me and my friends to go to a pub/bar to have a few beers and banter about the day

It was going so well, until I got to the last requirement......
"Cheap" and "France" are not usually found in the same sentence these days :D
Decide what you want from your skiing trip. If you are going for the skiing, then Tignes or Val D will fit the bill. Buy your beer in the Sherpa and DIY your entertainment.
If you are going for the nightlife, maybe France is not so good, but Sauze, or Mayrhofen may be worth a look.
Time to prioritise :D

The place you have been searching for does exist and it is well within your reach. only 1hr 30mins from grenoble ideal for flight or train, 220km of piste, guarenteed snow, europes largest glacier, and linked with La Grave, probably the best off-piste in europe. Oh yeh not to mention the great night life many many hotels plus being one of the cheapest large french resorts. Have you guessed where it is yet. but off course its LES DEUX ALPES. All you have stated you will find there, on of europes meccas for off piste, one of the best snow records. check it out.

My first immediate thought was Mayrhofen. It perfectly fits the bill, and its a million times cheaper than anywhere in France, as well as being much more interesting, pretty and lively than much of the French resorts.
Sauze is also a god shout, its always cheap, and its a god fun place. Nice varied skiing, not much off piste though.

See the thing is iv been to mayrhofen 3 years in a row now, and alothough I love it I'm just looking for something abit more challenging
Maybe the place I'm looking for is not in france and I know this defeats the point of putting this thread in the "France"[/list] section
But could there somewhere like this anywhere else ?

If you want to be challenged, head for Chamonix. You can find budget beds, and drink with the Scandi's in the Chambre Neuf :D
If you can make it to your feet in the mornings, the available skiing will sort you out :D
Only an hour from GVA too.

If you are prepared to pay France prices and want something challenging with nightlife to boot. Then St. Anton is the place for you.
