Hi,
Looking at mail ordering skis for my daughter, and need some size advice. Considering the K2 True Luv for a 13 year old female, level 5/6, 109 lbs, 5' 5". She is very lean. She has been on shorter, softer skis that are several years old and is definitely at the limit of where that equipment can go. She tends to make lots of short, tight turns. I'm hoping to widen those turns out a bit with a longer ski that's still relatively easy to turn, and hoping to get a few years out of them. My wild guess is she's not going to get more than another inch or two taller, and not likely to gain more than ~20 pounds max. Help?
Thanks!

Welcome to J2ski :D Reading the description of the skis you are proposing, and they seem to be a recreational cruiser. Perhaps she should test some models and decide for herself. Aged 13 she is already taller than me! I have no real feel for your description of her ability, what is level 5/6?
As skiing now seems to be not an option for you, then there is really no rush to buy. Spend the skis money on some coaching for her next winter, then let her Demo at the end of the season. As she is still growing and maturing her skiing outlook will inevitably change.

I'd love to have her demo a few, but that's not an option in May in this part of the world. Recreational cruiser is about right for her. Here's a reasonably good breakdown of the ability levels: http://www.amenta.com/ski/skiknow.htm.

Squaw has a bigger base right now than most resorts in North America have had all season. They are definitely still open. Mammoth is open in to June too.
In saying that, having your daughter try a few pairs is probably the best option, if you really have to decide then I'd go something in the low 150s.
