Hi All

I am of to Selva on the 13th Feb - can not wait whooooooo. Staying at the Pralong - anybody been there?

I beleve that they have introduced a chipped ski pass this year, does anybody know do you still need a passport photo.

Also our passes are for 6 days ie Sunday to Friday, I am hoping we will arrive in the resort early afternoon is there anywhere that we can try out our ski legs for an hour without needing a pass. Don't really want to pay EUR40 x 2 for an hour trying to remember how to ski.

Thanks.

I've read that you don't need a photo if your pass is under 7 days.
Have a good one

Have a read of Lynn's Arabba report, she mentions both directions http://www.j2ski.com/ski-chat-forum/posts/list/7921.page

Tony,
I hope you read this before you go. We have stayed at the Pralong several times and you are in for a great stay, the family Denicolo will make you feel very welcome and hotel accomodation and meals are great. Talk to the owners son Christian who is a walker, climber and skier and is also in the Mountain Rescue and he will advise you on all sorts of things about the area. We love the area so much we now have an apartment in Selva and are going out on 15th and always go up to see Christian at least once so I may bump in to you there.
The Sella Ronda is fantastic for views and runs either way round and is no more difficult in either direction.
Regards
Graeme

Sorry Tony but forgot to say that Christian works behind the bar mostly so will be easy to find.
The new chip card system can be bought at the ski pass office in the square/car park, beside the glass bridge opposite the cafe/bar La Bula and is next to the bank. They will take your photo on a webcam on the desk and it will automatically be transferred to the card and although the quality is not brilliant it will give you all a laugh when you compare mug shots. If you go to Selva again you can update the pass and pay online so that you don't need to queue ever again and can just walk through the turnstiles.
Enjoy
Graeme

Hi Graeme

Thanks for the info, so excited right now, can not get off the laptop looking at snow reports etc.

All packed and ready to go. Leaving around 00:30 and driving through to Manchester for a 06:50 flight (bit of a bummer but hey).

Conditions look great on the webcams so hoping we may get both the green and orange done.

Will be certain to interrogate Christian and get all the insider tips.

Hope to see you there.

Regards

Tony
