Tignes

Off to Tignes in March, whats the skiing going to be like then? What's the apres like? :wink: Any pictures around of the resort.

Hi, I went to Tignes a few years ago, it was January though, very very cold, great snow and as its high should still be great snow but not so cold in March.

Theres a few good bars in Tignes, no idea what they're called, unfortunately I'm one of those people that takes absoultely no notice of the names of bars or ski runs.

You'll have a great time, try and get over to Val Disere if you can, definately for a ski, and for some apres if you can.

Hi paulo1960, the skiing in Tignes is excellent. You have the whole Espace Killy to play on, so ski over to Val D'Isere or La Daille etc. If the snow is poor, then there is always the glacier up the top of the Grande Motte, but I doubt very much if you will have any issues with the snow. As stated by NellyPS, it is a good high resort, so fairly well guaranteed.

As for Apres Ski, there is plenty of variety, ranging from civilised social bars through to the blast your ears off younger haunts, with plenty of options in between.

You are probably aware, but Tignes is actually spread over three "towns". Tignes Val Claret is at the top end of the resort, and is where the Grande Motte funicular leaves from. This is separated from Le Lac and Le Lavachet by the lake, and needs transferred by bus. Le Lac and Le Lavachet are close enough to walk between.

Here you can see Le Lac to the right and center and Le Lavachet to the left, I know it makes the towns look small, but it is taken from quite a distance away.
