hello,
i'm planning to go to Kitzbuhel in early March 2010 as it looks pretty and it's good for intermediates.
I've read that it's a low resort and snow is not always guaranteed.
would this be the case in March too or is it more unreliable at other times of the season?
thanks a lot!

Welcome to J2ski 8) Kitz has already been open this winter with good early snow. It all depends on the temps in the valley, you might lose the home run to slush, but up high will still likely be good :D

I went to St Johann (other side of the mountain) in March and had snow on the lower slopes, but when I took the short local bus ride to have a look round KItzbuhel the lower slopes there were green.

I'm looking at going to Kitzbuhel around 9th Jan for a week....bad idea? My plans for val d'isere have fallen through. I've seen the snow history for the last few years, this year seemed ok but prior to that not so good!

I went the first week of Feb last year and it was stunnig for snow-we only had one bluebird day actually and 2 whiteouts-best snow in 15 years. I know last year was just a bit of a freak season in parts but looks good so far this year too.
Thing with Kitz is that most of the skiing is up and above a gondola station which means you dont really have to ski down anyway (although is always nice)

GREAT for intermediates though and the Hanenkahm is always a challenge even though its only a red
