We're thinking of going to Les Carroz in early March. From what I have read, the resort is quite spread out. We're only on our third ski outing and still struggle to walk far in ski boots, carrying our gear and 8yr old daughter's (same problem boarding ski buses!). So we're looking for recommendations for accommodation near the nursery slopes and/or the green runs. Our friends are going self catering, but I'd prefer half-board hotels as I like my comforts!
Any words of wisdom gratefully received :)

I had a look at Les Carroz website - http://www.lescarroz.com/
Does it have to be early March?

Found this offer on special offers tab:

Total ski at La Croix de Savoie hotel

443 euros per person: 28 % reduction on your stay. Valid from 9th to 22nd January and from 20th March to 2nd April 2010.
half board including a Grand Massif lift pass

Benefit from 20 % reduction on ski equipment rental and 10 % reduction on ski lessons. See the hotel.

Also... I was trying to remember the name of the hotel at the bottom of the slopes and i think it's this one- http://www.hotel-boisdelachar.com/

I've been to the Grand Massif quite a few times, though never stayed in Les Carroz. The skiing there is great fun.

Thanks Dids. Our reason for choosing that date was because our friends are going then - they booked their flights ages ago and are now checking out accommodation. We could stay with them if we let them know soon, but I'm not keen on s/c. We thought we could stay somewhere else and meet up with them in the evenings.

I went there for a couple of nights and did not get the impression it was a spread out resort every thing seemed to be close together but it was five years ago 8)

The resort of Les Carroz revolves around a village square with accomodation within about a mile of the square, some of it is a flat walk to the village square and some accomodation is up inclines. The nursery slope is out of the centre of the village but there is a free ski bus around the resort which means you do not need to close to the nursery slope if you can find better or higher quality accomodation elsewhere.

Hi , been there a couple of times, selection of Hotels is generally small 'very French',2 and 3 star. 'Les Airelles' is actually at the top of the green'baby slope' area, thnk its a 3 star. We've stayed in the MGM Les Fermes Du Soliel right at the edge of the village square, with ice rink and swimming pool as part of the complex, 4 star self catering, bus stop outside the door to the slops, 30 yrds to shops and restaurants. Perfect for kids. Some of the accommodation is as far as 1.5km from the slops, but buses are every 15 mns though. Beatiful little village, theres a nice easy green just as you get off the telecabine, have a great time

Stephen McDonald and cleanlivin, welcome to J2ski :D

Cleanlivin, as you have a website, and now have a link from here, you could add a link to J2ski from your site as a reciprocal gesture :D
