Hi guys,
Okay, so I am deciding on which resort to go to still and accommodation costs are definitely something I am factoring in.
I am looking at Verbier, Val d'Isere and Tignes.
Can anyone give me a rough guide to how much a month / week I would have to pay for accommodation? I don't mind sharing and the cheaper the better obviously. Plus, what kind of place could I expect for that amount?
I am also thinking of St Anton. I have been to Cham already so have a rough idea of how much it costs there and I am guessing that Val and Tignes will be more, but am not sure how much St Anton will cost as I have not been boarding before there.
Many thanks,
xx

Tignes and Val D'Isre are fantastic skiing especially Tignes although it is pretty ugly Tignes Val Claret is great, easy access to superb skiing as it is very high and you ought to find reasonable accomodation as there is masses of it especially off season, ie not school holidays. Went to St Anton last February, never again! Rip off Austria big time. Prices were horrific, 12 quid a pizza, 6 quid a pint, ski hire 140 quid for a week for skis I would have thrown in the skip, lift pass 180 quid, 1 pound to leave your coats in a store in a restaurant, rubbish accomodation that costs a fortune etc etc. It is living on a previous reputation and is near Lech and Zurs which is supposed to be top chic. I would go to Tignes or Les Arc/ La Plagne which are now connected by a massive cable car across a valley. Accomodation in Les Arc is great and okay prices.

The cheapest readily available accommodation in Tignes/Val d'Isere (if you are on your own) are the UCPAs and the FUAJ (youth hostel) in Tignes les Boisses. You can get 7 days full board, and lift pass for about 500 Euros in the FUAJ. You have all manner of different winter sport options available at the UCPAs, you can be independent or get lessons/guiding in whatever you choose. Check out the UCPA website for full details of what they have on offer - they are excellent.

The cheapest option if you are in a group, are the Interhome and Pierres Vacances apartments in Tignes. Be warned they pack them in like sardines in Tignes.

St Anton has excellent accommodation of almost whatever variety you want. Cheapest are the B+Bs, the tourist board websites are first class in Austria. Central St Anton B+B for one person is about 300 Euros. There are also some hostel style accommodation but I have never used it. The best value accommodation I have ever had is in St Anton. St Anton is an outstanding resort, with incredible off-piste/backcountry skiing. All you need to know can be found on:
