I can only offer info from using the connections from La Plagne. I think the main return slope to Champagny was fully covered with snow making the year before last but late season it does get hard and icy so the bubble is the best way back down. the 'other' return piste is having it's top end 'landscaped' this winter to allow more reliable pisteing. Work on the bottom section is subject to ongoing negociation with the land owners.
At the top of the main acces bubbles is a covered picnic area and also some public lockers.
Work is on going on now to 'improve' the snow front.
Details here http://www.perso-laplagne.fr/News.htm (scroll down to August 17th)
There is also a current thread on snowHeads http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=53015

Viewed a great little chalet 200 mtrs from the lift in the old part of town, went up Haute champagny fantastic valley widlife and the 1st snows had just fallen at the top.But we budgeted
the £ @ 1.15.in that week dropped 1.07  which stuck 25k on the price so we will wait and hope the £ recovers.
