Les Hameaux Des Airelles - fairly posh new apartments with proper bathrooms, yahhay!!. Crystal are charging £1100 for a couple in a 2 - 4 person apartment in January 2010, but we booked with Neilson for £750 for both of us. Lift passes are separate but pretty reasonable at £120 each.

Now, if only I could hibernate until it was time to go....

At that price my guess is the lift pass will be local area and not the Milky Way?

Yes, it's the local pass but it includes Mont G, Claviere and Cesana which is a pretty big area, well for me anyway! and one day in the the Milky Way.

Nice. As much as I love Sauze, I'd suggest you have that 1 day in Sestriere.

Tony, I'm thinking of Sauze for December. Where did you stay and was it any good?
When in doubt?....Flat out.

First time I stopped in the Hotel Sportinia and it was dreadful, which didnt matter as I was legless every night. Second time I stopped in the Hotel Sauze which was not a lot better.
Fortunately, the skiing was great and the nightlife was "busy".
I dont know of any hotels to recommend, but I would suggest you spend a little more than you intend to and get a better one.
I'd go back tomorrow mind.

Hi Gareth,

I've been to Sauze twice and both times stopped at the Hotel Gran Baita, which I can thoroughly recommend. The food is delicious and the hotel is set back from the main square so if you want a decent night's sleep you can get one.
The skiing in Sauze/Sestriere is great, however the snow cover is erratic so you may be best booking last minute if possible, particularly early in the season. On saying that, I've had great snow for both my trips, particularly this year (first two weeks of January) when you could ski all the way down to Jovenceaux at about 1300m.

I'm sure you'll have a great time :D

Lynn
