Heads up on big discounts fom Mark Warner online today.....

Have to admit that I'm feeling smug/elated...just booked 10th Jan at Berangere in Les Deux Alpes for £1800 all in from Edinburgh - for lady R, 2 kids and meself.
Looked a few days ago and the price was £2800.....

Now I'm wondering what I will do with my spare time until then - now that I don't need to search most days.

Having disovered skiing only 3 years ago at the age of 41 it seems that very little else matters...........perhaps someone else with a bit more experience should start a forum for self help, or is it just me?

Sounds like a good deal!

8) ...this is it! There is no cure; only the fleeting relief brought by more mountains and more snow.

I am 41 and only discovered skiing 8 years ago, so I know exactly what you mean.
I have been involved with publishing by means of printing for 13 years and was looking into setting up my own publishing company to produce a ski magazine aimed at leisure skiers, holiday makers, newcomers and people who think they cant afford to go skiing. Unfortunately, the recession started just at the wrong time for me, and I intend to wait until I look into this again, when it would be more sensible to try to sell advertising again!
From what you have said about help as a relative newcomer, I think my idea would be what a lot of people would be looking for. Something different compared to the usual expert, offpiste, heliskiing off the back of some mountain in outer Mongolia that none of us (with the greatest respect) are ever likely to experience.

Your mag sounds like a really good idea. There is deffinitely a gap in the market for it. I'd buy it.

You could also have a section on how to encourage reluctant wives to try a bit harder! This year will be her third attempt - tried ESF group lesson (lasted 3 hours, never went back for remaining 4 days), tried dry slope (completed 3 lessons but did not have the confidence to last more than 10 minutes in resort). This year she is trying Xscape with a positive attitude........
