My wife and I are trying to combine a Christmas ski holiday with a honeymoon.
We are looking to spend maybe 65% of the fortnight skiing.
We have been to Banff and Whistler before and love the idea of a village/township for Christmas, New Years Eve and restaurants etc…rather than mountain seclusion.
Somewhere with intermediate slopes but more so - nice lodging(s), tasteful furnishings and perhaps a fire. Priorty (as it is our honeymoon) is a nice room, either rustic or modern. Somewhere like Rocks resort Laax or Adara hotel Whistler and definitely not like the vast majorities that have bedding and drapes like a 40 year old floral tea cozy. Doesn't have to be flash - just Simple and not grandma!
We live in Western Australia so Europe is as easy as the Americas. Budget is moderate but unfortunately not $600 a night. Any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Kevin Fowkes

St Anton or Lech might be right for you.

I agree on Lech ,and would also suggest Zermatt for it's amazing scenery. It's a big village, so there is plenty of choice of accommodation.

Your destination resort is your honeymoon, so it ought to be in a stunning, memorable setting, where better than the Matterhorn :D

Have you considered any of The Lapland resorts, most romantic place I know. But unfortunately pricey at that time of year.

Hi Kevin,

I would first of all reinforce Bandit's suggestion of Zermatt. Providing you have a balcony view of the Matterhorn, in my opinion, it is the most stunning view in the world of skiing. Having said that, I still have two or three big places to go at. 8)

The downside is that because you are visiting in December, there is limited daytime for enjoying this most spectacular of views.

The second suggestion would be to consider Klosters. My reason for this is that the room seems to be important to you. There are some beautiful properties there.

The same applies to Vail, Colorado, some great condos.

But for the last two, you will have to pay serious dollars at Xmas/New Year.

In Europe, Christmas is a bit costly, New year, much more so.
Good Luck
