It's a little pedestrian in here tonight so I thought maybe we could go over a few memorable runs of the season so far.

Most Painful

Running down the Ahorn back to Mayrhofen (Red), Mid December. Snow depth not great on this 6km run and entire length is arificially prepared. Visibility is perfect at the top, but cloud is only 100ft below and all the way to the valley floor so vis is about 30ft at best. First time on the run, can feel the difference between the soft light real stuff and the grainy cannon stuff. Stop about 1/3rd way down at a crest to wait for my buddy. Stood up expecting to start sliding only to catch the front edge in a patch of slush and get propelled forward onto my shoulder, compressing my chest and fracturing a rib (as I confirmed later). Second 2/3rds of the run was not very much fun :!:

so far I've only had one trip and there was no "worst" scenario so here are my best ones:-

best moment

Clicking into my bindings :D

best run

the last one down Mittermoos on day three before turning the corner to go down Tennladen. That run was the best I've ever done, my turns felt so good (and that's the reason I turned the corner!).

most terrifying moment

standing at the top of the steepest, longest run I've ever stood at the top of, with no way back.

most exhilarating moment

waiting for Dave Mac and admin to get off the gondola so we could give them the news. coupled with two hours post-Tennladen, being told by mr a and Admin how well I'd done to get down Tennladen .

best fun

lunches and evenings with Jan, Admin and Dave Mac

And that was all in three days

best run

The face under chair 2 at Sainte Foy (steep one near the top), cutting skiers right and going round the side of the face, accidently off the cliff and then stomping the big one :D If you have been to Sainte Foy you will know...

worst run

Honestly don't have a run I would say was the 'worst', more turns when I have thought 'that was horrible'.

most painful

Stupid hockey stop to face plant

Best moments ~ two of them.

~ coming down side by side with admin, on a dump of fresh snow, giggling like 16 year olds. Sharing a run makes it a moment of the season.

~ the next day, seeing Caron's face just as she told us about her run down Tenladen, followed by a congratulatory hug. It's always special when a breakthrough is made.

Magical moments ~ two of them

~ New year in Niederau, with our village friends, when for 360 degrees of the mountain horizon turned into a glorious blaze of fireworks.

~ When my OH skiied down her first run, 4 weeks after the plaster cast being removed.

Most emotional

When my ski buddy Mel turned up in Niederau, three days after a biopsy, but with a week to spare before the results. He is such a positive person.

Lasting memories
Meeting a dozen or so J2skiers, and having the opportunity to ski and share evenings together. Regretting just missing a couple, but also for one or two that could not make it because of illness.

Most Memorable Experience

Taking the Jungfraubahn up to the Jungfraujoch on a beautiful clear Boxing Day, having a lazy lunch then riding all afternoon from Kleine Scheidegg

.......and then falling over (at about 3km/h) and cracking another rib on the other side

Are you sure you are in the right sport Tino? You don't see a pattern emerging?

Haha maybe not ;)

I can actually snowboard, I just have 2 ribs which I have fractured several times playing various sports (rugby, squash and snowboarding) so they are particularly weak :(
