Hi, we're off to La plagne 1800 at the end of March. Can anyone tell me whether I need to book lessons before I go or should i do it there? I believe my choice of schools to be Reflex or ESF. I don't know who I should go with or whether we should have private or group lessons. I am Intermediate but my husband has only skiied for one day. Also, i'm not sure whether to book lift passes before we go or whilst there - don't know which lift passes we'd need. Anyone got any advice?
Thanks
Sharon

I'd say, that as you are outside of peak season, you can probably wait and book your ski lessons when you get there. However, if you know that you will be having lessons, why not book them now. There seems to be a difference in your abilities so can't see you taking lessons together. I'd call or email the ski school in advance and ask their advice.
As far as lift pass, as your hubby is a relative beginner, you'll only need the La Plagne pass rather than complete Paradiski pass. Again, contact the ski school first, as they may well say that he won't need a pass for first couple of days at all. Beginners I've taken before have not needed lift passes for first 2 days.
If he felt particulary good about his skiing towards the end of your holiday, you could always buy a one day extension to your pass, but I don't reckon you'll need it, as plenty of skiing on La Plagne side. Besides it's a bit of a trek from Plagne 1800 over to Les Arcs.

My advice would be use ESF and book a two hour lesson for the first day of skiing.
Dont book it for first thing in the morning but for about 11am.
For the first two hours go on the nursery slopes and see what you OH can remember.
This way you can tell the instructor exactly what you are capable of and they will do the rest.
This is what my OH did and she felt it got the best out of the time.
She did need her lift pass though.

Hi, can recommend ESF at 1800 and Oxygene which is in Plan Centre, there is a free ski bus. ESF meet at 1800(near sports 2000) and its a nice easy short ski down to the chair up to Aime, for which you will need a pass. If you want to there are some nursery slopes just by were ESF meet which has a button and you don't need a pass. Agree with Pubsinger and would go for the La Plagne pass, there is plenty to ski without going to Les Acrs.
As you have differing levels its unlikely that you will be in the same group, and if yo go for private lesson, its likely that one of you will get more attention than the other but you will ski together.
