I have always gone for the beginner skis but just wondering what the difference is to go up a level (apart from the shpondoolies).

Personally, I'd try and step up to a better level of ski as soon as you can, as you will get better quality equipment and newer ranges normally.
Its more important to get a ski thats right for you, in terms of length, weight, cut/shape (ie carving ski, all mountain, off piste, etc) and speed to be honest.

I don't want to be seen to be thinking I am better than I am and not "deserving" of the next level of skis etc.. I bought boots last time out so now I am committed (we all should be "committed" when you see some of the slopes!!)
Thanks I think from what you say about moving up as soon as possible I will try it out. What are things to look out for? I will not be going off piste this time 'round and only sticking to the many available runs.
Thanks

You can always go back and ask for different skis mid week as this will give you more of an idea of what you do ad don't like in skis for the next time around.....

isn't it a problem that most people don't what the difference is between skis though? I don't think I would. And in most shops they are most likely to hand you whatever they have?
I've got to say some of our local stores have a amazing cheek with the skis they're sending some people out on, conversely, there's a large Belgium company with their own skis and they seem perfectly matched to the majority of their guests.
I'd have guessed if you went to somewhere the rental stores recommended on J2Ski (with discount) you might get the right stuff though.

Will check out the rental shops I know I will be going to and ask in the meantime aswell - Thanks
I am going to get private lessons next time out too so maybe the instructor will be able to recommend a particular type after seeing my skiing ability.
Is it just me or does everyone get butterflies in their stomach from the thoughts of going on my next ski holiday :)
