Hi guys,

I'm an instructor in Verbier and I'm looking at getting some Dynastar Troublemakers this season.

I had an old demo pair two seasons ago and they were awesome all-round skis.

Since then I've picked up a pair of Dynastar Omeglass 165 slalom skis for training and teaching on, and a pair of 183 Movement Sparks for a bit of off-piste.

I'm looking at doing some work in the park this year and my previous joy with the Troublemakers is leading me towards them as they are also a great all-mountain ski.

But I'm not sure what length to go for. I'm 5'11" and weigh about 13 to 13.5 stones (85 kilos). I'm heading towards 175s. I was considering 165s as being easier to maneuver in the park, but I think they'll just be too small for me.

Does anyone have any opinions on this?

Thanks in advance.

Ash

Hello and welcome to J2Ski! :)

I have a pair of Dynastar Nothin' But Troubles - 175cm (I'm 6'2) and weigh 14 stone.
I have had a few lessons off a freestyle instructor and he told me that due to freestyle skis being twin-tipped, you should aim for having them a little longer than you usually do (usally being the tip as high as between your chin & nose) - This is because at the back of the skis, where it is tipped, you're loosing a couple cm of ski that you may well be used to.

It really depends if these skis are purely for park and jibbin' about or if you want to use them also for skiing about some mountain.
If purely for park, you might prefer slightly shorter skis - I'm no expert, just passing on some knowledge.
Hope this helps a little!
Skiing: the art of catching cold and going broke while rapidly heading nowhere at great personal risk.

The Dynastars can't be much fun to teach on?

Go for the 175s, I had the TMs last year and I am a good 3 stone lighter than you. Wouldn't have gone any shorter.

You are definitely lacking some real fat skis
