I am having a bit of a crisis with only 3 weeks to go for our holidays, I have started to get a pain on my right foot, which is thre all the time, whether I am walking or not or have shoes on or not. It is just throbbing all the time. The place it is at is typically where you would see a bunion.
I am unsure if it is a bunion. I dont wear stupid shoes, I tend to live in my trainers or flat shoes. If this is a bunion and the pain is worse when I have shoes on, do you think it will be worse with ski boots?
Oh what a time to happen! I am just hoping I have pulled a muscle and it will heal but I think because of the location and the pain that it could be a bunion.
Any advice?
bunion??

I had something similar 2 weeks before I left to go skiing (flew home last night). Went to docs and she thought I had broken my foot. Was in constant pain and worse when I put weight on it after a period of rest. I told her she needed to make sure the pain was blocked as broken or not - I was NOT missing my holiday or going to spend it miserable. She prescribed me Tramadol which is for acute pain (given to cancer patients) and actually blocks the relevant pain receptors. I managed to ski all week with NO problems. Now I have been out of my boots for 24 hours and my foot is in agony again. The boots help keep everything in place I guess. My advice - get straight to the docs and get them to give you something to deal with it short term and deal with things properly when you get back.

I was hoping the pain was going to go away on its own but it doesnt seem to be doing anything.
I think I will have to bite the bullet and go to my GP

I have a bunion on my right foot. If you have a bunion you can see it clearly. My bunion never hurts when I am not wearing anything on my feet but when I am wearing narrow shoes or ski boots the discomfort is usually pressure on the opposite side of the foot...resulting (if the pressure is prolonged) in a corn on the little toe, which can be very painful. If there is what looks like a protruding bony mass on the side of your foot (at the base of the big toe) then you have a bunion. If not you need to see a doctor to find out what is causing the pain.

ok, so I went to the GP today and he told me its not gout and its not a bunion.
He said it has been caused through rubbing off my shoes (although I havent got a blister there) He explained it similar to a knee when your bone rubs the inside of your kneecap! or something like that. Anyway the good news is that it will get better in time but the bad news is I havent got a clue how much time! lol. I was just pleased it wasnt a bunion.
