Does anyone have any experience of flying with BMI, and the weight limits they impose on ski equipment? I fly in the morning, and when i booked my flights, was told i can take any bag, as long as it`s a ski bag and there are no weight limits. I`ve just been looking through the website, and came accross a paragraph stating that the limit is 20KG upto a maximum of 32KG. If you go over 20KG, they charge you £7 per KG you are over! Does anyone know if this is enforced at the airport? my bag weighs in at 31 KG, so it`d cost me the best part of £80!!!

I flew BMI Manchester to Turin March 07, no ski bags were weighed or checked, and they didnt even check to see if you had pre booked.
Should be fine. If you see a rep from your tour op, ignore them until you get the other end!

shallow, I know, but I read this as your weight allowance should be changed according to your body mass index

:D Now that would cost me a fortune!

31KG....that ws including all my clothes too, and its a massive Oakley bag, which in hindsight maybe weighs a bit much!

Rob,

For a weeks skiing, 20Kgm is massive. I am always under 17kgm including ski boots.

The trick here is to find out what is permitted with cabin baggage. Take the largest bag permissible, and bung as much heavy stuff into there.

I will easily crack 20 for a week.. 'just incase'

Plus skis (2 pairs) and boots of course.
