Hi everyone,
My boyfriend and I (along with my family) have just booked a week in La Plagne at the end of March. My family have all skied for years but I haven't been for 6 (apart from a few of days at Yad Moss, Harwood and Raise tows this winter - have been loving the cold weather we've been having!)
Anyway I know this probably seems like a ridiculous question to ask but I'm not sure what luggage to take (to put my gear in - obviously my skis will be separate!) Normally I'd take a big 70 litre rucksack but after a couple of trips to the states I can't risk any more rips and tears to it - I've only used it twice and its been pretty badly damaged :(
I won't really be taking much - will probably take a small suitcase as my carry on with most of my clothes in so just need my main bag to fit my ski boots, salopette, toiletries etc in.
I was wondering about a suitcase or maybe a cheap holdall . . .
Anyway please let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Nectarbears

I had them try that on me once but I argued that it was padding for the skis. I also pointed out that I would remove the padding if they were willing to repair any damages to my skis.
Is it actually that good, or are you just tight?

1 big suitcase is all you need, pack your ski boots in it, and take some thermals, base layers, mid layers like thin fleeces, and outer layers like waterproof or insulated jackets. March can be warm, but it can also be snowy and windy, so be prepared for either.
Dont take many clothes for non skiing time, a change of jeans and a couple of long and short sleeve tops will be plenty. I always end up taking far too much and regretting it when it comes to packing to come home again.

I always take far too much stuff for wearing off the slopes (I am a woman though) and never use half of it, hubby and I tend to share a large holdall and put all our ski kit in with skis to pad them out, also pad out the boot bag with socks etc and I will travel in my ski jacket.
Saying that, the airlines are catching on to the 'clothes in a ski bag' thing and are getting funny about ski bags carrying anything but skis (depends on airline).
HTH.

Have been using the same rucsac for 20 years, Argos's lowest price. The pockets have all been stitched!
Always carry my boots in the rucsac.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll let you know how I get on - got plenty of time to narrow down my 10 page list of what to take - only joking! Seriously though . . . I don't go till the end of March . . . thats 10 weeks or so: FAR TO LONG TO WAIT!
