I was due to take off from Chambery at 9am yesterday. However fog prevented all but one aircraft landing so we were stuck. It was expected to clear at lunchtime, but that 'window' lasted less than 20 mins and it closed in again.
We ended up being bused to Grenoble and eventually flew out at 11.15pm, a delay of over 14 hours. Got home to Norwich at 4.14 this morning.

The real star of the day however was our pilot. Who came to the gate to claim his passengers! The aircraft had been ready to go for 3 hours but they wouldn't open a gate to get us aboard. The pilot had basically had enough and came to get us, I've never seen anything like it. I guess without his personal intervention we've have been there another couple of hours at least.
He came to the gate and just announced that passengers for our flight would be boarding from there. Then didn't take no for an answer.
As he walked through the cabin he got a rousing round of applause!

What a star!
Go on, name the airline who deserve the plaudits.

I'm guessing that the pilot reached a point in time where he could fly back full, or empty because of his duty hours.

Give that man a

At least you were delayed by uncontrollable circumstances. Some berk at Geneva airport had left his case unattended causing half the airport to be closed. Result - chaos plus 3 hour delay!

Don't talk to me about Chambery Airport :!:

Spent 9 hours in that airport last year waiting to get home.

Titan, though only the air crew deserve the plaudits. Information during the delay was in very short supply!
