Once more we're delighted to report that substantial snow fell in the past week, most notably in Italy to give the Dolomites some impressive early depths. And we're even more delighted to report that it's set to continue.
Weather and Snow Next Week
Snow has moved into the Alps again, and will continue through Friday and Saturday for much of the major Alpine area. Heaviest falls will be in the North, although the South of the Alps should also see useful snowfall on top of a growing base.
The Pyrenees should also be in on the action again. Whilst temperatures should remain low to the North, the southern-most ski areas will likely see a brief rise in temperatures over the weekend to take the freezing line to 2,000 metres early next week. Any warming should be short-lived, however, with temperatures falling again by mid-week...
The list of early-opening resorts has grown longer, so if you're able to catch a few days before Xmas then conditions should make it worth your while - but do check your chosen resort before you travel, as quite a few of the resorts are only open at the weekends right now.
How nice... more snow! 8) 8) 8)

although the snow's good the press reports they've decided to open more or less on the spur of the moment aren't entirely true, it's the "Feast of the Immaculate Conception" on Monday so it's a public holiday in many catholic countries or states so it's good business this weekend.
