Niederau web cam

I really can't squeeze any more skiing into this winter, but I am intrigued as to why it is so popular with so many people.
It's not that I am unsociable but I really do enjoy other countries culture without the need to mix with my own on holiday, so I suppose my biggest nightmare is a Brit invaded resort. :D

hi ian,
from a confirmed N -er of (this Christmas) exactly 20 years standing, summer and winter):
i don't think that 20 years ago, there were any more or fewer Brits going to Niederau, but the people RETURNING year after year is very high. i think there are some stats which relate to the percentage returning, and N scores very highly. the laws forbidding auslanders from purchasing land have relaxed in recent years, i believe, and many people i recall skiing with many years ago in N have gone on to buy land and to build.
i started returning because it was/is an easy, and safe place to go to on one's own. a friend let me down all those years ago, and rather than lose my deposit too, i went alone as a complete beginner, and haven't looked back since. i returned to the UK on Jan 2nd 1989 and had re-booked for 6 weeks later within 24 hours. it's a very warm, welcoming place, and i've always felt safe there.
have worked 2 whole seasons there as an instructor, and worked countless other individual weeks, teaching the children to ski. Come and try it! L.

Hi all,
The webcam at the top of the gondola is sited on the back of Rudi's. This cam is very expensive to operate for the owner (the Paragliding School) and they won't be getting much custom over the winter.
As a further point, there has been a substantial amount of complaint from village accomodation owners as the cam only points at the Sonnberg (Sunny Mountain) which during the season is always more green than the ski slopes. Consequently potential guests were put off visiting as they thought there was no snow in the valley.
The other webcam in the village has been so inundated with views that it has been subject to considerable updates, the results of which have not been fully sucessful although Monday should see some improvements ;)
