I am looking for information regarding good routes around the Portes du soliel. I am staying in Morzine and am boarding.

I was there last year.

There are 2 cable cars / gondalas up to Avoriaz from Morzine.

As a boarder I'd suggest taking the larger one (Prodains - I think it's called) otherwise you'll have a fairly long flat section to cover before getting anyway.

This lift takes you to the bottom of Avoriaz town. A short ride from there is the bottom of several lift. The first one allows you to have an early test of your morning balance (a bit little a breath test for driving)...

Then after that your right at the next lift to open up the rest of the PdS.

Make a beeline to the STASH. If your a boarder that like kickers/grinds etc - very interesting.

You'll struggle to get round the whole area - unless that is your 'goal'. Few too much to see and lines to find.
You'll never know, unless you try...

I found the lift system in Portes Du Soleil to be about 10 years behind all the other big areas I've been.
Morzine and Les Gets areas were great, but the link to Avoriaz was so slow. The queues were ridiculous. Things got worse on the Swiss side, slow rickety old chairs. From Morzine, not worth the time and effort to get there.
After skiing 3Vs and Espace Killy areas, the lift system of Portes Du Soleil was a huge disappointment.
Has much changed since I was there in 2003?
