Have been there in February the last 2 seasons, good variety of runs and the lift ques wern't to bad even though I was there at half term. Slight delay when ski school sets of am & pm, but if your up the mountain before that no worries. Be sure to get the the outlying areas to - well worth it.

We're taking a break this year, but already have a week back there in 2010 planned.

Went January last year, and stopped in the chalets at the altiport. Great area, and great skiing. You`ll never be short of runs either; loads of variety for all abilities.

Not too expensive either, compared to many Alpine resorts.

You have to visit the resteraunt at the altiport also.....superb food! we went 3 times in a week.

Have also been looking at this area for a trip in april! Looks good, especially for a family with a large ski area of various different levels of difficulty! Want to the 16kms black run, have heard its not that difficult but would be fun to ski so far and for so long with out switching runs etc!

Sarenne is only steep at the top, even then it's not that bad at all and after that the few awkward bits you also have an easy way round and the final section really is like a green BUT well worth doing. If you stop at the little bar/restuarant a km or so before the end (next to the 2 seat chair) you get a lovely log fire.

Now Tunel.... that's serious ...

Definetly recomend the resort, we'll be back in 2010.

P.S. Watch out for the scare chair... especially if there's an aircraft taking off !

It is well worthwhile exploring the other ski areas within Massif des Grandes Rousses. Auris, Vaujany, Montfrais, Oz en Oisans, Oz Enversin, Villard Reculas and Foret de Maronne are all linked up by pistes and lifts with the main resort of Alpe d'Huez. ( Auris and Montfrais are usually quiet)

There several excellent mountain restaurants in addition to the ones at the airport and at the end of the Sarenne already mentioned. Lac Besson and Les Airelles are especially good.

The chair that takes you across the valley from Les Bergers to Auris runs horizontal at first straight under the airport runway before dropping like a rolercoaster into the valley.
